Summer Solstice Party of the year

Let's celebrate the official start of summer, our love, light and life.

 Hosted by ☀️ Miha & Ben ☀️

Event details

The Summer Solstice,

or Litha on the Celtic Calendar, is one of the four solar festivals (quarter days) that fall within the Wheel of the Year in the annual cycle of seasons. And while it marks the astronomical beginning of summer on the Gregorian Calendar, people in Scandinavian countries such as Sweden, Norway, Finland, and a few other parts of the world celebrate “Midsummer” on the solstice.

Romanians celebrate 'Sânzienele' or 'Drǎgaica' on this day. Sânzienele are fantastic beings, good fairies of unprecedented beauty, who fully manifest their magical powers only on this night. They are descending from the clouds of the clear June sky on earth, to sing and dance in full celebration. In many parts of the country, on the day of the 'Sânziene',  there are festivals in which girls and boys dance, sing, party, and worship these little creatures of good that will help them in life and love.

Since ancient times, Summer Solstice traditions have included gathering with family and friends to celebrate the return of sunlight, love, life, and a good harvest.

And today, we're inviting you to celebrate with us.

We thought we'd never do this.

In fact, we've always said we would never get married.
Yet, here we are.

Meeting each other meant finding our light within and it all changed.

There's that kind of love that comes in blindly, when you least expect it, when you're not even looking for it, but you're ready for it. You find yourself loving a person fully, for who they are, exactly how they are. You care deeply and you cherish them...
It's not consuming, it's healing and it's enriching; it makes life more meaningful; it takes away all fears and makes you feel confident and brave; it's growing and it makes you grow.
This love is like the summer sun, brightening over our lives.
We have it. We feel blessed and fortunate and we thank the universe for it.

We've been circling each other for years (we'll tell you that story one day) and we finally found each other. We want to live these days of us, on this earth, now, to the fullest, and celebrate them in one great party in our place of happiness.

And we want to share these moments and this love with you.

What to expect

Forget everything you know or expect about weddings, we are not doing traditional here. Come with an open mind, and an open heart, and let yourself immersed into an experience of light, music, magic, and colours, on the beach.

Light up the shores at Praia Princesa

Costa da Caparica is our home. It's where we feel the fullest, the liveliest and the happiest. It's also where we met. So it was the obvious choice of place to celebrate with you, right on the shores of the Atlantic.

We have booked a fantastic venue, at Praia Princesa, to celebrate the sun, sea, love and sand, and this will host us for the evening from 5pm until 3am; we have DJs playing banging tunes and food and drinks to keep us going through the night.

What's on for the day

We have a lot of special moments and surprises prepared for you, we won't give it all away.
However, here's a brief outline, so you know how to plan your day.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about the day.
What should I wear?
Think  summer beach festival. Bring your bikinis if you want to go for a swim. Don't worry about shoes (barefoot is preferable, we will be on the beach). Bring some warm clothes for the night. Or keep dancing to keep warm.
Think colours, flowers, glitter and lights.
How to get to Praia Princesa?
The easiest way is to catch an Uber or Bolt there and back.
This is the address: Est das Praias, 2825-491 Costa da Caparica; https://maps.app.goo.gl/7CdzwiFSRU5t9Bi97.
We don't recommend you driving there...you may not be able to drive back ;).
Can I bring my kids?
We will have a great team of kids entertainers from FUNtoche for 4 hours during the afternoon and early evening, so that the grown ups can be kids themselves for a little while.
What's on the menu?
We will have a buffet with delicious dishes you can choose from. There will be meal options for guests with dietary restrictions or allergies.
And an open bar.
What should I know about ecstatic dance?
Ecstatic Dance as we know it began in 2000, on the Big Island of Hawaii. It has become a movement, a culture that celebrates freedom, love and community.
There are 3 simple guidelines:
1. We Dance without shoes (or: We Dance Barefoot) This allows us to connect more fully with the Ground If you have a physical condition and you need shoes, that's ok.
2. We Dance without words (or: We Dance with Body Language) This makes it easier to be in a Meditative State; No Verbal Instruction from the Facilitators; No Talking from the Dancers.
3. We Dance as We Are No Phones, No Cameras/Videos, No Expectations, No Judgements, No Shoulds, No Oughts…. Just be yourself; with respect for yourself, the space, and one another.
What is there to do/see around Costa da Caparica?
We've curated a selection of beach bars, restaurants and cafes around our beautiful little beach town.
You can also go explore Lisbon, which is about 20min drive from Costa.

Join us for our greatest celebration of love and light, as we exchange our vows and start our new journey together.
